The Good, The Bad and the Guy-Who-Owes-Me-Bigtime

A word of advice to myself (and all the others who can take the hint ;-). Its a really grave matter to lend money with the hope of expecting it back. Usually, these sort of lessons are learnt the hard way. Either that or I am so sadistic as to really wanna to hurt myself.

A very recent experience of lending an undisclosed sum of hard cash to a friend with an undisclosed name resulted in me trying very hard to track the guy down to retrieve my sum total. All of these efforts were met with excuses so convincingly absurd as to border on the incomprehensible (just like this jargon peppered post).

Suffice it to say that at the tender age of 25, I have resolved to agree with the good old saying:

"Your friends require your time not your money"

Saying Goodbye

When I said goodbye to the Freshers Gang at Sobha Renaissance IT at the end of September this year, they gave me a few momentos to take back with me

a denim shirt, a water-logged show-piece and a book asking me to "slow down". I didn't have the heart to tell them that I was slow enough to put a turtle to shame (prospective employers please ignore that last statement)
:-D

Doggone Dogear

Q: What do u get when you cross a obsessive-bus-rider-who-purchases-a-day-pass-for-every-round-trip with a compulsive-multitasking-more-than-5-books-at-a-time-reader?

A: day pass tickets being used as bookmarks

The Wheel of Time

For fans of fantasy fiction like Lord of the Rings, here is another series which will provide enough excitement for a long time to come. Its called The Wheel of Time . What blew me away was the in depth detail Robert Jordan writes in. He provides a lot of character information/growth (yes, even for the villains). We have thrilling twists, political games, gentle humor going side by side with mighty magic, epic battles and prophetic fulfillment. I fully recommend this. There are a total of twelve books in the series of which eleven are published. The last one has yet to be released. Do check it out.

"If" by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

The Height of Detachment

I don't know why but this slight form of fever (warmth in my head, a soft cough and the almost-anytime-body-ache-will-blossom feeling in my body) seems to trigger a detachment of a sort in my mind as if my pulsing thought and feel stream (including the love and\or lust feels) was only taking a tiny portion of the blackness in my brain and I am on instinct able to literally choose the ones which get converted to conversation and smalltalk. Its not necessarily a good or a bad mood but I kind of like it for its ability to say what is Right and carry a Ready Wit. More than that, I don't fear the slight rejections of people who are too busy or who don't give enough damn to talk to me. Its as if I have dropped the cloak of my insecurities and embraced who I have become and who I will turn out to be a long time later from now.The problem is to duplicate this "situation" such that I can call it on demand or, better than that, to be always this form of Rejoy in the hope of achieving a Satisfactory Happiness.Together, till death do us apart, my dear Aloofness. And to you too, my reader (Chilling Smile :-)
